An anonymous donor quietly left $8,000 in the Pasadena Humane Society's Neely Cat Center donation box around 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Yes, that's $8,000 — 400 twenty-dollar bills, to be precise.

After shocked staff members discovered the cash, they called for the donor to identify themselves on Facebook. "We are truly grateful to this kind person and want to thank them on behalf of all the animals at PHS," they wrote.
Let's hope the mystery giver sees the post — because Facebook is thanking them, too.
"Best news I've heard all day," wrote one commenter.
"Well now I'm crying," said another.
And this person just let a surprised cat speak for them.

A few people wondered if the money would also go toward care for non-feline friends. Well, fear not, pups. The gift will be used to care for allthe shelter's animals.
And the funds are sorely needed. According to the Pasadena Star-News, it takes in about 12,000 new rescues per year, relying on donations from the public to stay afloat.
